Updated Important Service Announcement

Transition of Analog Wireless Networks to Digital Networks means end of life for analog services.

The February 18, 2008 date that the FCC mandated for the cellular network carriers to maintain “Analog Service” has expired. Customers in certain areas have been experiencing widespread service interruptions, don’t wait until you can no longer locate you mobile assets. Please contact your Sales Manager or Customer Account Manager for details of our special “Analog Conversion Program (ACP).

ADVISORY NOTICE – PLEASE READ

Based on a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ruling, as of February 18, 2008, cellular carriers will no longer be required to support the analog wireless network. We are advised that providers of analog wireless network services are announcing their intent to discontinue the maintenance of analog networks your Sales Manager or Customer Account Manager for details of the Digital Conversion Program we are offering to those affected by this decision.

CalAmp’s Aercept solution utilizes several technologies to provide integrated location-based services. This does include terrestrial wireless communication technology, including analog cellular networks, to communicate with the in-vehicle devices.

Most North American service providers have expanded coverage of their digital based networks. Since March 2006, as digital coverage has expanded, CalAmp Aercept began offering digital products to their customers.

This advisory serves as a notice that, to the extent reasonably practicable, CalAmp will continue to support analog Aercept products for the remainder of this year to existing customers as long as 1) CalAmp-contracted service providers and carriers maintain AMPS cellular service, and 2) existing customers remain current with all invoices for CalAmp services and comply with the terms of any applicable service agreement.

We are informed that analog carriers may not be providing contractual commitments for analog service beyond February 18, 2008. Therefore, specific turndown plans for each carrier by market are not available. Carrier turndowns are anticipated to begin in late February and extend throughout 2008

While we do not expect all ANALOG units to simply stop working after February 18, 2008, analog signals are expected to degrade and eventually be discontinued over time as carriers cease repairs and maintenance of analog towers and turn down their analog service. Therefore, CalAmp cannot and does not guarantee service to any ANALOG units beyond February 18, 2008.

WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THE IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT OF ALL ANALOG UNITS WITH NEW DIGITAL UNITS TO AVOID LOSS OF SERVICE.
Please contact your Sales Account Manager or call 1.888.8AERCEPT

CalAmp will continue to invoice for customer’s billable units until the customer cancels service for a specific analog unit. As vehicles with installed analog units traverse the network, each unit may be able to locate and utilize analog services in certain markets, and may not be able to locate or utilize services in other markets. If the customer’s analog unit is capable of utilizing analog service in its market or accesses the network, and the customer has not cancelled the service, CalAmp will continue to serve and bill for that device until the customer cancels service.
